Introduction

The educational institutions run by the Shivalik Educational Society (regd.), Chandigarh, rank amongst the best in North India. Making a beginning in 1972, the society now has co-educational, English medium institutions at Chandigarh, Mohali, Nawanshahr and Patiala, which have little more than 8000 students including 400 boarders receiving education up to senior Secondary Stage of Education. Shri D.S.Bedi, the Director of Shivalik Institutions is a well-known visionary in the field of education and has been a guiding beacon and motivating force in the turning them into ideal oases of education and development.

S.I.E.R. is affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala and is recognized by National Council of Teacher Education, Jaipur for B.Ed. Course. The magnificient institute is spread over an area of 3 acres. The state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities not only provide simulating environment but also an ideal setting for professional training. After having paved its way through a highly commendable journey of more than four decades, the Shivalik Educational Society has ushered into the field of teacher education under its flagship, Shivalik Institute of Education and Research, a B.Ed. College at S.A.S Nagar(Mohali), from the academic session 2005-2006.
